For the sake of this post, imagine that far away land is Morocco. You wake up inside the fortified walls of a medieval castle, the original centerpiece of what is now the town of Safi. As you get out of bed, and grab your surf board, you hear the daily call to prayer. You are surrounded by old castle walls, and outside, a sprawling arid landscape, with hills and rugged coastline.
This might not be what you imagine when you think of a surf trip, but here you are, meeting up with your guide outside of the castle walls, boards in hand, about to walk just down the old stone street to surf one of the best right hand point breaks in the world.
Finding a local surf coach or guide can be difficult in many surf zones around the world; I’ve found that while generic, beginner style lessons are often accessible, finding a reliable guide who can take you to the surf breaks that best suit your level or desire as a traveler, while offering professional coaching, is hard to come by. Especially when dealing with potential language barriers. But if you go to Morocco, we will match you with a guide who has knowledge of the area’s surf breaks, and even has friends who are local surfers, who can help show you the place from an insiders perspective. Our guides will work with you, and help tailor the trip to your own individual wants and needs.
