Surf Lessons: Group or Individual?
At Legend Surf Co, we offer both private and group surf lessons, at any beach that you would like in the Hamptons (from East Hampton through Montauk). Of course, we try to focus our lessons at the beaches where the waves are the best (for more information on that, check back on our most recent article regarding the upcoming summer of 2026). But through our service, you can book lessons for yourself, a group of family friends, or a bachelorette party or business outing. Anywhere, from East Hampton, Amagansett to Montauk.
Why private lessons over surf camp?
In our private/ group lessons, you will get the focused one on one attention that you need for optimal progression as a surfer. Even in larger group lessons (we will take up to 10 surfers in a single lesson), we never drop below a 2:1 student to instructor ratio- and often the ratio is much closer (e.g we often put 5 instructors on a 7 student lesson). With our lesson structure, and the way in which we conduct those lessons, you will always have somebody there to physically assist you in getting back to the lineup, and give you feedback on everything from surfing technique to how to find the most efficient paddle lane on the way back out to the lineup.
Every lesson will be catered to the skill level and learning needs of the individuals or groups who booked the lesson. We will come into your lesson with a plan, as to how we can use the conditions on that day to help you progress the most as a surfer. Of course, for our regular customers, once they get a sense for what conditions that they like, we will help them read the surf forecast and select the days that are best for them as a surfer.
This level of coordination and individual attention is just not as feasible for a surf camp. Not to mention, the individual attention that we offer, along with lack of inevitable board clutter that comes with a surf camp, provides a much safer feeling environment to learn in.

Bachelor/ Bachelorette parties
A surf lesson with us at Legend Surf Co is a great activity to include in your Hamptons bachelor/bachelorette party itinerary. You will get to surf in an intimate setting with just your friends, and no one else to disturb your group dynamic. Come share some waves and laughs in your last hurrah before the big day.
Birthday parties
This is a fun one for kids; what else would make you the coolest kid in school, other than bringing your best friends to a surf birthday party in the Hamptons? I can’t think of anything cooler. Especially if you have some fundamentals under your belt already, this is the perfect chance to show it off to your friends.
Business outings
A surf lesson with legend surf co is the best way to get outside, get away from the hustle and stress of work, and have fun with your business team. Our instructors will teach you about surfing, the ocean, and tell stories of the amazing experiences and lifestyle that we’ve lived. It will leave you feeling rejuvenated at the least, and at best, enlightened.
